Fort Laramie, was founded by fur traders in 1834, it is located where the north Platte meets the Laramie river.


Fort Bridger, was founded by a mountain man named Jim Bridger in 1842. It is a popular trading post.  

Fort Hall, was founded by Jarvis Wyeth in 1834.  It is located along the Snake River.  It was originally a british fort before the treaty establishing oregon in the US was signed.  

Fort Boise, was also originally a british fort.  It was established in 1834 on the Snake River.  

Whitman mission, was founded by Marcus and Narcissa Whitman in 1836.  The methodist mission supplied religious teachings and medical help etc. to local native americans.  In 1847 an epidemic of measles broke out in the mission and the Whitmans were to blame.  They were killed in an attack on the mission.
